Prime Minister Hun Sen Says the Process of Economic and Social Activities Must not be Reversed

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, has urged the people to continue to implement health measures and get everyone to receive the 4th dose covid-19 vaccinate, to continue maintain community immunity and ensure the functioning of social activities. A full economy, safe and irreversible.

During the handover ceremony of the 300,000 dose of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine from the Republic of Poland held at the Council of Ministers on the morning of Sunday,January 30, 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that the vaccine is a key measure to control the spread of Covid-19 and End of the Covid-19 Crisis. He added that citing the success of Cambodia's vaccination campaign, Cambodia was able to completely end the February 20, 2021 community transmission event by the end of last year.

"The success of the national vaccination campaign has boosted the Cambodian economy beyond expectations," he said. In fact, the Cambodian economy is predicted to grow by three percent in 2021 and is predict to grow by more than five percent in 2022 through full national opening and a return to normal socio-economic activities in all sectors.

Cambodia has fully reopened the country on November 1, 2021 and closed the events of February 20, 2021 on December 20, 2021 after 10 months of outbreak. However, the spread of the new OMICRON Variant around the world has prompted governments to be vigilant, so vaccinating more people is a top priority.

Prime Minister has also thanked the Republic of Poland for providing assistance with the Covid-19 vaccine to Cambodia.

"The Aid from the people and the Government of the Republic of Poland now will make a significant contribution to the fight against Covid-19, especially in the national vaccination campaign to the Cambodian people throughout the country," he said

Cambodia has started the fourth dose vaccination campaign on January 14, 2022, which so far has reached about 440,000 people and received the fourth dose.

The European Ambassador to Cambodia and Representative of the Republic of Poland, Ms. Carmen Moreno, stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister, the Royal Government of Cambodia has the ability to improve the health care system that protects the lives of the people just in time.

She said: “Today Cambodia is one of the most vaccinated countries in the world and on the way toward safety opening, this delivery of vaccine we are witness in here today prove the commitment with Cambodia in the fight against covid-19 pandemic and will continues to support the country in the effort toward sustainable, economic and social recovery."

Currently, Cambodia has vaccinated about 90 percentof the population 16 million, enabling Cambodia to control the spread of the disease, reduce hospitalizations and reduce death rates, maintain the process of Cambodian socio-economic activities. The vaccines used in Cambodia are Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Janssen, Mondena, and Pfize.
